GMFF Grant Helps Support the

Cops and Kids Foundation

The Cops and Kids Foundation provides police departments with tools and funding to run community service programs that help build community.

With the help of a GMFF grant, the Cops and Kids Foundation held a "Cops and Bobbers" fishing event with children from ARCh Camp Pow Wow over summer. This event helped break down barriers and make the kids feel more comfortable around police officers.

Many kids can be very afraid of strangers and the police, and this is sometimes amplified for kids with special needs. During the fishing this year, a couple of kids were very reluctant to participate. The Police Department sent over a squad car, which brought them over and helped encourage the kids to interact with the police officers.

The event was a big hit!

Later this year, a Guster Busters Bowling event will be held.
