Depending on your giving objectives, and the amount of your gift, there are numerous Fund Opportunities available.
A Founder is a donor who makes a contribution of $10,000 or more towards building the Foundation. Donors to this fund may make their contributions over a three year period. Founders will be recognized in Foundation promotional materials.
This fund consists of unrestricted gifts that are pooled together. The gifts may be in any amount. The Foundation’s Board of Directors may use this fund to respond to grant requests from local organizations for specific community needs.
Unrestricted Named Fund
A gift of $25,000 or more, free of restrictions, is required for the establishment of one of these funds. Since the money in the fund is unrestricted, the Foundation’s Board of Directors is permitted to award grants in response to any community needs it deems worthy of support. The donor is recognized when a grant is awarded.
In this instance, the donor makes a gift of $10,000 or more and names a particular charity or charities to benefit from this fund. If the donor’s charity of choice ceases to exist, the Board of Directors will preserve the donor’s wishes by redirecting the fund to an organization whose goals are most similar to the donor’s designated charity.
Donor Advised Fund
With a gift of $25,000 or more and no specific charity named, a donor establishing one of these funds retains the right to recommend to the Foundation’s Board of Directors which grant requests are to be approved, and for what amounts. In that regard, the fund is similar to a private foundation. However, the donor is relieved of the administrative burden.
A donor may start a fund with an initial contribution of $1,000 or more, and then continue to make contributions annually. When the fund reaches a pre-determined value, it converts into a grant-making fund within the Foundation.
